Chimmyville is my personal website and blog, the name comes from my nickname which is Chimmy (Chimmykins) and this being my home (ville) on the web.

Coding & Site History.

I first got into designing websites just before I started year 10 at school, I had seen all these websites people had made and decided I wanted to make one too. My first website was a fan site for 'Seann William Scott', which I have lost the URL for now. I then went on to creating mini sites about me and my friends that I never completed and ended up deleting. My "second" website was also a fan site for the TV programme 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', and was coded in tables with a very simple layout, it was hosted on Geocities. I coded the site using 'Geocities Advanced HTML Editor', using HTML coding I had learnt from Lissa Explains and through my I.T. lessons in school.

I also took an I.C.T. course at college, which included a web design module. This course furthered my HTML knowledge and first introduced me to frames and forms.

This site originally started out as a doll site and was inspired by popular doll sites at the time, e.g. angelkizz. To begin with the site was coded using frames which I had learned from my I.C.T college lessons but quickly changed to be coded in Iframes instead as I liked how easy they made it to update the website. In September 2006, I decided to get rid of my doll themed site and transform it into a "personal blog" site, which is the site you see up today. The site has a CSS based layout.

Hosting History.

This site was originally hosted by my friend Mike who owns a hosting site 1clickwebsite with the domain name http://kimmyc.cjb.net. My domain name has changed twice since being at kimmyc.cjb.net, the present domain name is Chimmyville.co.uk, which was purchased from 1clickwebsite domain names.

Technical Information & Accessibility:

This site is optimized for both Firefox, Internet Explorer and AOL Browsers running on Windows (it has been tested in Windows XP and 7 on those browsers), but has also been tested using browser shots in Safari, Opera and Netscape. This site is as of 06 Nov 2007 valid XHTML Transitional, but I am only human so if you spot any mistakes, please let me know. As of the 16th July 2007, all the skins on this site are validated CSS. The sites loading time is frequently tested using webwait, so it should load quickly whether you are on broadband or dial-up. For those of you who may be using a mobile phone to access this site, this website will also work with styles turned off i.e. with minimal images and is essentially plain black and white.
