Intro & Living Arrangements
Hi! :) I'm Kim (born Kimberley) and otherwise known as Kimi/Kimmy, Chimmykins etc. People have a habit of naming me, even people that don't know me seem to name me, e.g. Being named Little Voice (when I had little voice after having larygitis for a year).
I'm from Gloucestershire, England and have lived here all my life so far in a middle sized house in a tiny village. I live here with my younger sister and my parents, but I hope to get a place of my own when I can afford too. I would love to live in London or Los Angeles or more realisticly Weymouth or Bourton-on-the-Water.
On the outside
I'm about 5' 4" and would say I'm of an average body type. I have blue eyes and they look weird as one is bigger than the other, but sometimes you can't tell - it happened after being hit in my left eye by a golf club, I was nearly blind in that eye! There was blood everywhere. As a result I am also short-sighted and wear glasses.
My hair keeps changing colour, at the it's dyed blonde and red, but it's been many colours, black, brunette, blonde (etc)... I want to put some purple in it next. I have 6 piercings, they are ear lobes twice, ear rim and the tragus, and I want to get my anti-tragus done next. I also have a tattoo that I love; it's on my lower back. Would you like to read more about my body modifications?
If you’re interested in the clothes and/or accessories I like to wear, my wardrobe consists of of the obvious clothing essentials, e.g. jeans, plain t-shirts, jumpers etc. A lot of geek tshirts, especially ones based on 80's retro TV show and movies that I used to watch all the time when I was growing up, e.g. 'Fraggle Rock and some convention tshirts too. I also have a lot of fancy dress/cosplay outfits from conventions as well.
I have a fair few dresses and skirts however, my collection of those (and trousers etc) is rather limited compared to that of my tops.
I have a lot of accessories, mostly jewellery and belts, I also have a fair few scarves and hats. When it comes to shoes my favourite styles of shoes are wedges, courts and sandals but my ultimate shoe has to be a good old fashioned comfy trainer. Having worked in a shoe shop for three years my shoe collection has been greatly added too.
I have loads of scars, including one under my bottom lip due to something sharp (I don't remember what) going through my bottom lip to the top one, one near my eye from the golf club incident I spoke about before and one on my ankle but I don't remember how I got that one.
On the inside
I have quite an active imagination and can often be found in a day dream or a daze; I think a lot when I do this. I'm a night owl; I get all my energy when the sun goes down. This is also when I am able to contemplate on things and have time to myself. I'm quite arty and do various things of that nature including drawing, painting, sketching and most recently 'crafts'. I'm quite open-minded.
I love to read and have a wide range of books in my room from various genres including horror and sci-fi. I love Stephen King. I'm a fan of the Harry Potter (favourite no. 3 and 5) and Twilight books (favourite is Eclipse). I have mini-reviews on some of the books I read. I sometimes write poertry and have also started writing a story.
My favourite colour is purple and I like black, especially for clothing. I'm not sure what it is that attracts me to these colours. I am also a lover of the fragrance lavender and sleep with a lavender scented pillow underneath my bigger ones.
Education and Career
Like most children in England I started out my education in Primary School, although I did attend a playgroup before hand. My primary school was a tiny school named Sapperton CofE. After finishing primary School in year six, I went onto Secondary School. I attended Cirencester Deer Park and I loved my time there. I met many great friends at Deer Park, most of whom I still speak to now even though it's been years since we left. I completed my GCSE's in year 11 (2004), in which I achieved pretty good results (good enough to get me into college anyway!) My leaver's ball for Deer Park (a prom type thing) was a night I'll always remember! As was the day we left school as well.
After I left Deer Park I went onto Cirencester College. In my first year of college I took three courses, which were AVCE ICT (which is the equivalent of two A-Levels upon completition), AS Psychology and AS Archaeology. In my second year I completed my AVCE in ICT and went onto do the A-Level in Psychology, as well as the compulsory A-Level in General Studies. I didn't go on to do the Archaeology A-Level.
I passed all my year one and two college exams and got enough UCAS points to get me into University, although I hated it and ended up withdrawing due to personal reasons.
For my future career I can see myself doing something artistic, something in retail or something within Information and Technology (more specifically web design or web editing). My ideas are all over the place right now and I keep changing my mind - like the weather.
When I was little I always wanted to be in medicine (my exact words were "I'll be a brain surgeon"), as of 28th January 2011 I am a fully qualified first aider with St. John's Ambulance. I am also interested in volunteer work.
Although I already have an A-Level in the web design field (it was part of my AVCE ICT college course) I would like to learn further in the field whether this be academically or learing by doing, i.e. "self teaching" myself. After getting laid off due to long term illness where I worked, as deputy manager in a shoe shop situated in my local town I have had the time to reflect on what I want to do in the future. Owning my own business is one of my goals. I currently work as a sales/export administrator in an office.
Beliefs
I'm Wiccan and have been for years now, I'm not in a coven as I personally prefer the solitary path maybe one day I will be. Being Wiccan is my personal choice for a belief and although I have had some minor discrimination because of it (mostly narrow minded people who don't understand it) all of my friends and most of my family respect and support my decision.
Aside from my religion I also believe in the following/think they could exist:
- Ghosts
- Life on other planets but not necessarily aliens
As well as my beliefs I also have an interest in other religions/beliefs, some of my favourites are Christianity (mostly Old Testament and the book of revelations), Hinduism (mostly their Gods) and Buddhism. I also have an interest in ancient history and cultures, e.g. the ancient Romans, Egyptians and Greeks (especially Greek mythology).
I am also interested in Archaeology and Palaeontology, I took an Archaeology course as part of my AS Level studies which involved learning about the history of man in the Palaeolithic times - while interesting I was confused why we didn't learn about the history of the Romans since we are a Roman town and have an amphitheatre and museum within walking distance.
Likes, interests and hobbies
Aside from the obvious things that I've previously mentioned, i.e. reading and
arty things I also have the following hobbies/interests:
Music - I used to play the piano and also have my own
acoustic guitar. I love to sit up in my room for hours and listen to music. For the most part the music I listen to,
I relate to in some way (mostly the lyrics) or it has something I can 'air guitar' too. My taste in music is a little bit
of everything, I'll listen to anything once and if I like it I'll listen to it more. The people
around me tend to have an impact on what I listen too, e.g. my sister - RnB, my
dad - old rock, my mum - Meat Loaf/Michael Jackson (among others).
If you would like to know what songs I've listened to recently view my last.fm profile.
I enjoy taking photographs of anything/everything that I find the least bit interesting and/or entertaining, and various types of computer art including photo manipulation. I also have a love of VW Campervans (buy me one?)!
TV & Film
I have quite a few TV programmes that I like and frequently watch; these are True Blood, Bones, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Scrubs, Skins, The Simpsons, Casualty, Holby City, Sugar Rush, Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Top Gear, Merlin and How I Met Your Mother. Aside from these I also like to occasionally watch episodes of Red Dwarf, M*A*S*H and South Park. As well as various other British comedies, e.g. The Young Ones. I have also recently developed a love for Stargate: SG1, my favourite character being Teal'c. My favourite TV programme of all time has to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which you probably have heard of (unless you've been living under a rock), I've been a fan of the show since it first aired in the UK in 1988 and still am to this day, my favourite characters are Willow and Faith. I am also very fond (that's an understatement) of Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse (sensing a Joss Whedon theme?) and Tru calling.
Aside from TV programmes I also have a love for the classic coca cola Christmas advert! Christmas wasn't the same for me when they replaced it in 2006.
Internet-wise I enjoy the following web cartoons:
- Weebl and Bob - "Want pie now!"
- Salad Fingers
- Strongbad Email
As well as TV I'm a huge lover of movies and have seen quite a fair few I don't have a specific favourite film, however I do have favourite films from individual genres. I have an obsession with buying DVD's and own around 300+.
My favourite movie character has to be Gizmo from the movies Gremlins and Gremlins 2, why? One, he's cute and cunning and two I'm nick named after him.
Gaming
I like to play video games in my spare time and have a small yet growing
collection of various games, of various genres. I'm a Guitar Hero addict.
I own the following consoles:
- Sony Playstation 2
- Sega Mega Drive
- Dreamcast
- Nintendo Game Boy Colour
- Nintendo DS Lite (black).
- Sony Playstation 3.
- Nintendo Wii
Aside from console based games I don't really play any others (except for the occasional trading card game) and am really not keen on MMORPG's I find them boring. Although, I did get addicted to Maple Story for a while in October 2005.
I also have a love for a lot of random, some may say quirky things. One of the weirdest I'm told is my love for vampires, which includes (but not is limited too) biting, vampire movies, the 'sex appeal' they seem to be associated with. I collect various things mainly keyrings and film/tv memorabilia.
Having time to myself is a must for me. It gives me time to relax, chill-out, contemplate etc. However, I also love spending time with my wonderful friends whether that be going out, watching a film, shopping etc.
I am a big fan of tattoos and piercings and have some of my own. Even though I am a big fan of them as a whole, there are certain piercings/tattoos that I can't stand for various reasons, the main one being tongue piercings. I just can't see the attraction and find them off putting.
I love animals and donate every month to the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust
as well as 'click to donate' at a couple of charities websites. My favourite animals are
penguins, monkeys and dolphins.
In the future I would like to have the following pets:
- My great African snails
A tarantula - I got one! Thursday 21st February 2008- Hermy passed away and I'm unsure if I'll get another tarantula now.- Snakes
- A chameleon
- Tortoises
- Hermit Crabs
- Turtles
- A frog of some sort
Not asking a lot am I?
I love to ask questions, "if you don't ask how will you learn". That's a quote I'm quite often heard saying and asking myself, having said that I hate being asked questions either that I don't know how to answer or simply don't have an answer too.
I don't dislike many things except for the obvious general things, i.e. liars, homophobes, etc but I do dislike Monday mornings and brussel sprouts.
If you made it this far and read everything I salute you (even you skimmed read I'm impressed).
Have a cookie and a hot chocolate on me. :)
